The Prep School was awash on Friday with Tiggers, Dalmations, Darth Vaders, Mini Mouses and Woodies as the school dressed up for Disney Day and raised a tremendous £506.12 for Special Olympics North Devon. The children donated money in exchange for having an opportunity to dress up as their favourite Disney character and through a very enjoyable coffee morning and cake sale.

Special Olympics North Devon was formed in 2015 to offer training in a number of sports for children with special needs. The group meet at the Tarka Tennis Centre on Saturdays and offer Tennis, Boccia, Table Tennis and Badminton to competitors who range in age from 12 to 48! The organisation aims to send 15 athletes to the National Special Olympic Games in Sheffield in 2017.

During assembly, the Prep children learned about where their money was going and how it can help young people with special needs to achieve their dreams.

But it wasn’t just the children who enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters as Mrs Witheridge looked resplendent in her Tigger onesie, something that was definitely worth paying money to see!
