West Buckland School Year13 student, Oscar Carter-Burns, has been selected to play rugby for the U18 South West Lambs squad. The Lambs is run by the Independent Schools RFU and offers the opportunity for talented rugby players to compete at a representative level.
Oscar will play for the South West Lambs in a warm up match against Somerset U17s, before playing in a tournament against the South East, Northern and Midlands Lambs in January. At this event, there will be an opportunity to be selected for the England Lambs who will go on to play teams from the likes of Saracens and Northampton Saints academies.
West Buckland School, Head of Rugby, Dominic Ford, said “This selection is well deserved and is testimony to the hard work that he has put in on and off the pitch. He has played out of position for the school for most of the year in order to make the most of his ability and this has undoubtedly helped him to grow as a player, improving his ball carrying ability and importantly, his knowledge of the game. He is now a much smarter player and will gain invaluable experience with the Lambs. We wish him every success in the forthcoming matches.”
