Pupils in Prep 6 were excited this week to receive very creative and colourful cards from their pen friends in Paris, in a joint exchange to welcome in the New Year.
The pupils have been communicating with Ecole Elementaire Richomme, situated in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, where their current teacher is former West Buckland Modern Foreign Languages teacher Aleth Vanderheeren (née Pascaud), who taught here for five years before returning to France to train as a Prep school teacher.
Whilst the Prep 6 pupils have been corresponding in French, the Parisian pupils have sent their cards in English.
Madame Vandeheeren remembers her years at West Buckland fondly. “I taught MFL in the Senior school for two years -back in 2006!- and have kept great memories of the place. Since then I have come back to France and trained as a Prep school teacher, which I have now been for five years.”
