CCF cadets enjoyed camping under frosty nights, range shooting and some interesting survival training during a busy weekend on exercise.
On Friday night, a talk on survival techniques included identifying some rather unappetising, but edible creatures that could be added to the menu, including crickets and worms. This was followed by a night under the stars in bashas. Despite the cold, the cadets coped well and were ready for a day on Dartmoor on Saturday.
The next day’s training on the range was very successful and resulted in a number of the cadets achieving first class and marksman awards.
Despite the very cold conditions, the cadets remained in good spirits and no doubt enjoyed their warm beds once they got home.
