Seven West Buckland School students have gained very impressive gold awards in the recent UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, with one of them, Timothy Peng, qualifying for the prestigious Olympiad round, featuring the top 500 students in the country.
In addition, Timothy is also among a select few who have been invited to attend the National Mathematics Summer school in July.
The UKMT Maths competition is designed to reward problem solving and efficient thinking. In addition to the gold awards, a further 17 gaining silver and 18 gaining bronze.
In addition to Timothy’s achievement, four further students, Moses Chan, Tom Dewhurst, Michael Cheung and Yarik Zakharov, qualified for the follow-on Kangaroo round placing them amongst the best 2,500 students in the UK.
