Win for Prep 2 Tennis Teams and Summer Tennis

prep 2 nd tournament 2017

West Buckland Prep entered four teams into last week's North Devon Year 2 Tennis Tournament at the Tarka Tennis Centre in Barnstaple, with the A and B team doing exceptionally well, overcoming all opposition in their respective pools and semi-finals, to meet each other in the finals.

Twenty two teams entered the competition, with teams playing round robin matches in their pools before the top teams meeting in the semi-finals.  Having won their pools, the A team then had a good win against Ilfracombe to reach the finals, with the B team doing similarly with a win over North Molton.

Head of Tennis, Rachel Thompson, wants to encourage more of our students to play as often as possible over the summer, with a number of excellent initiatives available.

"Summer holidays are just around the corner and I hope the sunshine makes you want to pick up a racket and get out on court!

#GoHitIt is all about helping you to make that happen.  The LTA is helping the nation to find courts, but look no further as West Buckland School is also helping you with this.

Outside courts at the Tarka Tennis Centre in Barnstaple are free for you to book throughout the year.  This 'school family' initiative is there to help make playing tennis easy.

Pupils with less tennis experience - Years 7-10, have, this term, been enjoying some extra coaching at school during lunch time with Lucy from Tarka.  It's surprising how quickly your skills can develop.

Develop the basics, play singles or doubles, spend time as a family #GoHitIt

Have a great summer!"
