As part of our exciting and very varied new co-curricular programme, the Outdoor Learning department has got off to a flying start. Last weekend Year 7 and 8 pupils took part in an overnight camp at a local Scout Campsite where they were challenged to meet new friends, try activities and work as a team. Supported by their class tutors they were encouraged to complete an underground maze of tunnels, tackle an assault course and sleep under the stars.
Despite some soggy weather, they sang and cooked marshmallows around the camp fire while making friendships and memories that they will remember through their school journey and hopefully beyond.
Year 8 challenged themselves to try surfing and beach fitness with Nick Thorn surf school. Following that, back at camp, they also took part in the underground maze task and completed the assault course, getting rather wet and muddy in the process.
Around the camp fire, they were led in fine song by our new Assistant Director of Music Mr Burstow, who accompanied the singing on his ukulele!
Pupils throughout the school will be participating in an extremely busy and varied co-curricular schedule this term which will offer opportunities to take part in a number of activities after school and in their lunch breaks.
