Year 9 Biology students were at their creative best, producing T-shirts showing the workings of the human body as part of their GCSE studies into organ systems.
The students were allowed to show off their designs in their lesson, before they will be displayed on the walls to be admired by others.
Proof that creativity is not confined to the Arts!
Showjumpers representing West Buckland School have had a very busy Christmas holidays, competing in the North Devon Schools Showjumping League at Mullacott Cross Equestrian Centre, and achieving some impressive results.
The West Buckland Legends (shown in the photo) have managed to be placed in every competition so far, showing great skill and consistancy.
In addition, Year 7 Bethany Gay achieved a fantastic individual first place in the 60cm class in two competitions. Louisa Cotton, in Year 9 managed an extremely respectable second in the same class.
The West Buckland Legends were joined in the team events by the West Buckland Learners and the West Buckland Fliers, making up a dedicated group of pupils who have worked really hard to achieve the excellent results to date.
Following on from the successes at the 150 Theatre, Speech and Drama Awards a few weeks ago, several of the festival winners were presented with their trophies and awards in yesterday's Celebration Assembly.
Year 7 Chloe Hall won the Comedy Award, whilst fellow Year 7 pupil Anna Davies received the trophy for gaining the highest marks in the age 12 and under category.
Moving up the age groups, Year 9 Loveday Williams, won the Headmaster's award for most promising performer. She shared the award with one of our visiting pupils from Chulmleigh School.
Finally, Louisa Cotton, in Year 10, received the Headmaster's award in the Year 10 to 13.
Well done to all those who took part and to all our prize winners.
Well done to Eddy Pope and Toby Watts who were crowned North Devon U13 champions in the North Devon Schools' Secondary Tournament at the Tarka Tennis Centre last week.
Eddy and Toby were part of a strong U13 and U15 boys and girls team entered into the tournament which featured a large number of teams and the usual strong competition.
The U13 Boys A team won all the pool matches against a range of opposition. In the semi-final they met a strong Braunton A. Using their experience and good shot selection, they outwitted their opponents to face - for the second year running - Ilfracombe A. In a nail biting match, the advantage changed throughout the match, but a very pleased West Buckland Pair eventually came out on top to become North Devon winners.U13 and U15 girls' and boys' competitions.
The U15 West Buckland teams played well throughout the day, winning the majority of matches. Both girls and boys made it through to the semi final stages where match play was at its best!
Jack Prickett and Greg Tully faced a very strong Ilfracombe A team and although they narrowly lost 5-7, it was a fantastic display of tennis from both teams.
Martha Macdonald and Millie McLintock were successful in the semi-final comfortably beating Pilton A. In the final they met Bideford A and were unlucky to concede the match 5-7.
