We were delighted to welcome back three of our former students, who returned to the school for Field Day last week. They each gave enlightening talks to the Sixth Form and Year 11 about their chosen career paths and their personal journeys to achieve their goals.
The three included entrepreneur Jake Withecombe (06-11F), and barrister Charley Pattison (92-03C), who, despite starting off in public relations, turned to European Law and is currently the Justice Spokesperson for the Green Party and is about to undertake a post at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Charlie had some great advice for her audience. “Just do what you love doing...do something that will get you out of bed in the morning.”
Jake currently runs his own business, AgriCamera, which provides CCTV to be installed in calving and chicken sheds. Jake’s entrepreneurial streak started whilst he was still at school, when he set up his own hedge trimming business. His message to the audience was “If you’ve got an idea, that’s enough to get you started. You don’t have to come up with your master plan for the very first version… you can work on that!”
We are very grateful that our former students found the time to come and talk to the school and we will be following their careers closely as they go from strength to strength.
