West Buckland students, staff and friends took part in a major beach clean at Croyde last Sunday, in collaboration with Nurdle.org.uk. The event, organised by Ms Jo Beech, was a great success with many in attendance to help try and rid our beaches of rubbish. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Hare, parents from the Prep School, who very kindly offered our volunteers parking on site.
OWBA, Josh Beech from Nurdle, brought along his invention - giant sieves that separate microplastics from sand and other debris. Josh was featured on Countryfile showcasing the machine and highlighting aims for the future. Please take a look at the website for details.
The school is also working on reducing our plastic footprint, with caterers, Holroyd Howe looking into plastic-free alternatives for various items. You can help reduce our footprint further by stopping use of straws, plastic cutlery, drinks bottles, takeaway cups and sauce sachets - REDUCE. RECOVER. RECYCLE.
