On Saturday 9th February, West Buckland welcomed 28 gifted artists and writers from South Molton Community College and The Park Community School to join our students in a day of creative writing and illustration. Based on the theme of change, we ran through a variety of writing activities and interpretations of literature. After this, students developed their own ideas for a character, focusing on 'hope for change', where we touched on topics such as mental health, the environment, perceptions of race and physical metamorphosis. For the latter part of the session, the students worked with our resident artist Joe, where we all collaborated in creating 'Felicity the foxy spy' and her somewhat incompetent sidekick 'Morris the Bloodhound'. The next session is on Saturday 9th March.
