A move to the South West involves no compromise with your child's education. Lifestyle, well-being and happiness are all a natural part of an outstanding West Buckland education.
Has your child ever caught a wave next to their Headmaster? Ever hit the beach mid-week to study rockpools? Or traversed a glorious Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to study soil erosion?
We bet they’d like to.
Childhood memories should be made from friendships, exploration, personal successes, happiness and adventure. As parents, we know that all these enable them to develop into the rounded, strong, self-confident and resilient adults of the future.
So what is Go-West all about? It’s about combining an outstanding academic record with an extra-curricular programme bursting with adventure and challenge. It’s about fresh air and formative experiences. It’s about breaking free of the city and creating young-adults that live, laugh and progress to some of the country’s top universities.
We moved to Devon from West Sussex because we felt that it would improve our family life, giving us more time together.
Once we had visited West Buckland School, it became the centre of our house search and since our son has started at the Prep School, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in his confidence and willingness to give new activities a go.
Our move to Devon was triggered by a search for less pollution, busyness and stress. We wanted a co-ed school life with plenty of outdoor activity for our daughters, but with a strong academic ethos too and it was proving difficult to find that balance in our previous location.
We were impressed by the happy, kind and caring atmosphere from both teachers and pupils and the stunning campus where the children are encouraged to play and learn in the fresh air.
Our son joined West Buckland as a full- time sixth form boarder. We chose West Buckland because it has a lovely feel to it, friendly but with the right amount of “firm”.
The atmosphere in Parker’s is of one big, happy family and the facilities are outstanding. The students learn to be independent, including doing their own washing, which is great because he does it at home now….
He went away a boy with mixed emotions about boarding and he came home a young man full of confidence– thank you West Buckland.
