Extracurricular

There are a huge range of extracurricular activities for sixth form students to take part in, from sport, drama and dance through to debating, STEM, orchestras and yoga.

Time Management vs. Independence

Despite giving our Sixth Form students more independence and freedom to manage their own time, we do strongly encourage you to balance your studies with a manageable and varied extracurricular programme.

As with the rest of the senior, the ECA (extracurricular activities) schedule offers variety and a great deal of choice, from sport and martial arts to music and academic clubs.

Our Ethos Around Extracurricular

The Sixth Form Diploma, aims to encourage involvement in a number of different disciplines, which cover not just physical activities but also academic enrichment to supplement a student’s studies.  All these are closely linked to our school characteristics, namely courage, commitment, care, creativity, confidence, curiosity and critical thinking.

Societies

Many of our students will enrol in our two debating societies – Socrates Club and the Phoenix Society, or the Aldiss Society – a series of lectures by guest speakers.

There are also opportunities through STEM clubs, dissection club, medical society, art club, drama productions, choirs, orchestras and jazz bands, dance and, of course sport.

Just see what some of our Sixth Formers get up to in their spare time.

Molly Down

"I play sport, especially netball, and I’m involved in the concert and jazz bands! I really enjoy these as it breaks up the academic life of sixth form and allows me to develop new skills outside of the classroom."

Tim Peng

"I particularly enjoy playing in the school basketball team where I get to play fixtures competitively against other schools. I have been participating in ‘mathmagician’ and the STEM. club to further my knowledge in the field of Maths and physics which I think will be useful in my future life."

Louis Hughes

"I am a member of the charities committee and enjoy working as part of a team with my peers, towards a shared goal. The social aspect of the committee provides me with a healthy balance between school work and free time."
