With a wide range of sports on offer, we make sure every child has the chance to find a passion and live healthily.
We believe that participation and sport for all is essential as part of a healthy lifestyle and all our pupils have the opportunity to take part in weekly Games, PE and swimming lessons. However, we also place importance on excellence and the development of competitive teams who can compete regularly in inter-school and inter-house fixtures.
Prep School children have access to first-class sports facilities and, in addition to our own staff, the Senior School’s specialist coaches are fully involved with Prep School sport.Explore Prep School Life
Netball, rugby, football, hockey, rounders, cricket, athletics, swimming and tennis are the main sports throughout the year, with numerous matches against other schools.
We believe team sports are fantastic for a child’s development, teaching them communication, trust and teamwork from an early age.
We teach the children to play hard, play fair, play their best and work as a team but always be gracious in defeat. In recent years we have met with success in local and regional tournaments. The boys are currently Under 11 Devon hockey champions.
Blessed with our location, sandwiched between Exmoor National Park and the Atlantic Ocean, we build field and adventure trips into the curriculum whenever possible. These provide inspiration, build resilience and encourage critical thinking.
Prep school boys and girls take part in our Tennis Performance Programme on Monday mornings and some play to a particularly high standard, winning regional competitions.
Tennis is a fantastic sport for developing hand eye co-ordination and agility, as well as fitness. Students benefit from a number of courts on campus, including on our newly refurbished AstroTurf facility. Our Facilities
Swimming is also part of the curriculum for boys and girls. Every child has a weekly swimming lesson with qualified swimming coaches in our heated 25m indoor pool.
Children can also join the Prep swimming club or the swimming squad which competes in inter-school galas. A great way to have fun and stay healthy, and useful skills should there be an emergency in the future.
